Hot stamping
Prints are accessories that have been decorating clothing and used in advertising for years. Over the years, millions of designs have been created for banners, marketing materials, packaging, and even simple T-shirts and other clothing items. Technological advancements have led to the emergence of various printing techniques, allowing for high-quality prints. Today, we can list at least several printing methods, depending on the desired effects and materials used. One of these is hot stamping, also known as hot printing. Hot stamping is a printing technique known worldwide, in which temperature, pressure, and a coloring agent play a key role. It is performed using foil or special hot stamping dies, which have a convex shape and are made of a material that conducts heat. Hot stamping is primarily used for refining and securing prints. It is also effective as a method for decorating or marking specific items (for example, adding interesting gilding using a hot stamping machine).
Hot stamping is performed using specialized equipment. The process isn't complicated, but it requires experience to achieve the desired results. A hot stamping plate with the design you want to transfer to the substrate is heated to a suitable temperature. This process must be performed with caution and appropriate safety measures, as the temperature can reach up to 100 degrees Celsius! The next step is to place the hot stamping foil between the plate and the printed substrate. The hot stamping plate is then pressed with the appropriate force against the substrate, transferring the coloring agent to its surface. An embossed effect can also be achieved if the printed item is suitable for this (e.g., a wooden chocolate box). This interesting finish is sure to look attractive and provide a unique embellishment to many items. Hot stamping helps to easily revitalize any surface, add a touch of elegance, and also allows for the renovation of worn-out items. It is one of the most popular methods of contemporary decoration and is used in a variety of industries. It can be used in fashionable goldsmith finishes, such as on packaging, business cards, and other promotional materials. Decorations can also take on other colors, depending on the type of matrix or hot stamping foil.
